Educational Course Builder

At Sberbank's Edutoria educational platform, I was responsible for the product design of the course builder. This tool allowed authors to create educational courses and post them on the platform

2021−2022

Problem

We entered the market with a “raw” MVP. The course builder, which was a key tool for authors, turned out to be inconvenient and uncomfortable:

  1. The interface was overloaded and not very intuitive

  2. As a result, creating courses on the platform took too much time

  3. The basic set of blocks and functions was insufficient for real educational scenarios

Solution

The solution was to completely redesign and develop the tool. During the process, I focused on

  1. Simplifying the interface. I got rid of cluttered elements to speed up the course creation process

  2. Optimizing scenarios. I minimized the number of steps to publication and created more logical user paths

  3. Designing new widgets — I designed clear blocks for the features added by the product team

Builder Interface

The design is based on the Edit-in-Place principle. Users can edit elements directly on the page

Edit-in-place

This principle is supported not only in the constructor itself, but also in the course administration panel.

For example, the author can also rename a lesson or section, as well as change its order within a single page.

New widgets

There weren't enough basic blocks to cover important scenarios in the courses. The management team conducted interviews and compiled a list of the most requested features.

My task was to turn this list into user-friendly widgets. Despite their extensive functionality, I made them simple: editing was intuitive and required no unnecessary steps.
